1 / 5Piece No. 01
This sculpture presents a rare and deeply evocative form of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, believed to have been envisioned by his son, Chhatrapati Rajaram Maharaj, from personal memory. As a result, it holds not only artistic significance but also profound historical and emotional value. We refer to this form as "Rajarchit Shivarupa"—a representation shaped through royal remembrance.
Carved in black stone, the original image departs from conventional depictions of Shivaji Maharaj. It portrays him in a calm, contemplative seated posture, with refined details in ornaments and attire reflecting sovereignty and dignity. Symbolic elements such as the Sun and Moon, along with royal insignia, reinforce the idea of enduring kingship and the vision of Swarajya.
The original sculpture, housed at the Shivrajeshwar Temple within Sindhudurg Fort, is a remarkable monolithic work where the figure, seat, and aureole are carved from a single stone.
This creation by Aakhyan Heritage is not a replication, but an artistic interpretation inspired by the original artefact. It seeks to offer a meaningful engagement with history through sculptural art—bridging past and present while respecting the integrity of the original.
